Baby nurse vs postpartum doula — what's the difference? A baby nurse focuses on the newborn: feeding, sleep and care. A postpartum doula supports the whole family through the fourth trimester, including the mother's recovery, feeding help and emotional support. See our postpartum doula page at /postpartum-doula-miami.
Baby nurses usually start in the first days or weeks after birth and stay anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Many of our families later transition from a baby nurse to a long-term baby nanny — our Standard Package is designed for exactly that transition.
SLV Private Placements works with private families across Miami-Dade County, including Brickell, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, South Beach, Pinecrest, Aventura, Bal Harbour and Doral. Each neighborhood has its own rhythm: high-rise families in Brickell often need flexible hours around demanding work schedules, while families in Pinecrest and Coral Gables more often look for long-term nannies who can drive to school, sports and after-school activities.
In Miami, household staff pay typically ranges from $18 to $35 per hour depending on experience, languages spoken, certifications, live-in or live-out arrangements and the number of children. Bilingual English–Spanish candidates are in high demand, and many of our families specifically request Spanish-speaking caregivers. Newborn specialists and nannies who travel with the family usually sit at the top of that range.
Because Miami-Dade is a busy, seasonal market, many families also travel between Miami, New York and abroad during the year. We screen for candidates who are legal to travel, comfortable with relocation periods, and able to adjust to changing schedules. Every candidate presented to a family has completed our registration, reference verification and background check process.
Ideally during the second or third trimester, so the search is complete before your due date.
Some arrangements are 24-hour or live-in for the first weeks; others are overnight only. We match the schedule you need.
Short-term baby nurse placements often fit the Basic / Advise package ($1,500, 90-day warranty).
